"I'm tired of this hand-to-mouth existence," said his wife to the salesman over dinner.
The salesman after securing his twin sons in high chairs, on either
side of his wife's place at the kitchen table, before taking his own
seat across replied, "Keep your chin up, dear. The economy is bound to
improve."
The salesman's wife looked up. "What economy? I'm tired of using my
hands and my arms every time one of our kids opens their mouth!"
Moral of the story. True sales professionals know that when times
are tough, it's easy to blame everything on the economy. Vague excuses
are for whimps! Real sales professionals stay engaged with customers
and prospects at all times. They stay alert for problems and
inefficiencies that they can help solve.
