The elderly salesman flattered himself that he was still a ladies' man and decided to flirt with the comely waitress.
"So tell me, sweetheart, where have you been all my life?" he crooned.
"Actually, sir," she pointed out sweetly, "for the first thirty five years of it, I wasn't even born yet."
Moral of the story. True sales professionals, especially if they are
married, know, that it's not a good idea to flirt with prospects well
outside your target market. Narrow your prospect list down to those
individuals that may actually have a need for your services. Stop
wasting your time pitching everything you have to everyone you meet
without at least qualifying them first. Going right into your closing
lines without uncovering your prospect's needs or wants first, is just
plain unprofessional, lazy and will ruin your only opportunity to make a
great first impression. Bottom line? Keep your bottom in line and
think before you flirt.
